Diabetes Can Affect Prolonged Existence in Humans

The latest diabetes research has shown that older people with diabetes have less shelf life than others who do not have diabetes. For example, a diabetic of 50 years can live on average less than 8.5 years compared to a healthy person without diabetes. According to the National Academy of aging society, older people with diabetes have a lower life expectancy compared to those without the disease. A person 60 years and older have a difference in life expectancy of 5.4 years. When he / she reaches 90, the difference is one year.

Diabetic disease has no cure at all, but the progress of the disease can be stopped by measures which include proper diet, regular exercise and medication if necessary. In older persons with diabetes also leads to other problems such as depression, heart disease and other disabilities.
